About the Client
Online since 1995, iserloh.com is the personal site of designer, photographer and chemist Uli Iserloh. Uli runs Iserloh Design, collaborates with his wife on many creative endeavors, and loves talking technology. Uli's blog - articles and posts at the intersection of technology, design and life - are the most frequently updated parts of the site.
Design Overview
2005 marked the transition of iserloh.com from static HTML to database-driven content-management system, powered by the übercool WordPress. The new technology allows:
- readers to leave comments, tips or impressions about the site or a specific article. Posting comments is one of the most exciting features of blogs, and adds to the richness of the user experience.
- to publish blog entries and photos from anywhere in the world with just a browser.
- for real simple syndication (RSS), by generating excerpts that are displayed on other organization's websites and in feedreader software. Without any extra work, bloggers can greatly enhance their visibility in the online blogosphere.
- for strict separation of content and presentation, in compliance with web-standards.
Why Choose Iserloh Design?
Iserloh Design combines beautiful photography, compelling content and exceptional visual design to create a web presence that delivers results. We believe that the ultimate strength of any website lies in the richness of its content and the degree to which it invites visitors to interact, bookmark, and return again.
Iserloh Design retains expert knowledge in emerging technologies, and provides its clients with exactly what their businesses need. Keeping costs in check is a big concern for many small businesses, so Iserloh Design's developers work predominantly with free and secure open-source software applications that don't cost a dime, are easily configured and benefit from a huge developer-base working tirelessly on new features.
Recent examples of Iserloh Design's work with open-source database-driven websites are in the areas of ecommerce (Julia Tan Jewelry), bulletin boards (Making It In The City) and blogs (Parmarth Girls, SkinnyChef Blog, Customized Blogs for Blogspot, Blogsome, LiveJournal, MSN Spaces).
