About the Client
"The 6000 members of the American Chemical Society's Division of Biological Chemistry share the goal of using chemistry to develop a better understanding of biological processes, and to harness these processes for the common good. The objectives of the Division are to promote knowledge and research in the field of biological chemistry and the relations of this discipline to other branches of science."
As one of the technical divisions of the American Chemical Society, the website serves as the official gateway to publicize announcements, newsletters, conference schedules, awards, and postdoctoral openings.
During the early part of 2005, the executive board of the ACS Division of Biological Chemistry recognized the need for a fundamental overhaul of the existing website, established in the late 1990's. It was deemed paramount to relaunch the site with a combination of compelling content and strong, beautiful photography. The Division turned to us, based on Iserloh Design's proven strength in these two areas.
Design Overview
During the the process of concept development, content implementation, and launch/marketing activities, the Division's secretary, John Richard, relied heavily on Iserloh Design's experts to assist him through the steps.
Based on our experience, clients want easy-to-use, easy-to-learn, and cost-effective ways of managing and updating their websites. Iserloh Design uses a customized content management system (CMS) to give clients a user-friendly solution. The CMS allows them to update content from any web browser. They paste in new text and photos and with just a click of a button, they publish changes instantly, without any knowledge of HTML or other software.
After working with John on the desired look and feel of the new site, Iserloh Design installed the CMS and provided customized banner images, typography and colors.
During the next stage, John followed our easy step-by-step tutorial on how to replace the placeholder content with her own text, images, and links. Like every other user of CMS, John was amazed how easy it was to update the site, proceeding rapidly through dozens of pages. In parallel, Iserloh Design integrated a job posting section, allowing visitors to browse and advertise any career opportunities.
Finally, after John completed all edits, Iserloh Design's graphic designers went through the site to correct any remaining design issues, and tested the site for cross-browser/platform compatibility.

From The Client
"The Officers of the Division of Biological Chemistry work on a volunteer basis in coordinating the activities of a 6,000-member organization. This responsibility places demands on the time of busy academics. Iserloh Design has created a website for the Division that is a model for simplicity and elegance, in addition to being very easy to update for those with a minimal knowledge of web-programming."
"The result is a tremendous improvement of the communication of the Division's activities to its members. We can not imagine being more satisfied with this new website."
John Richards
